ELECTION IN EIRE

DE VALERA LOSES CONTROL Rec:*9 a.m. LONDON, June. 25. The final figures in the Eire elections give the Fianna Fail 67 seats and the Opposition 71. Fine Gael won 32 seats, Labour 17, Farmers 9, and Independents 13,. The state of the parties before the election was: Fianna Fail 77, Fine Gael 45, Labour 9, Independents 7. The Press Association correspondent in Dublin says that although Mr. de Valera has lost his clear working majority over the combined Opposition parties the relations between Fianna Fail and the smaller opposition groups may easily enable him to come to some arrangement under which his Government will carry on for a considerable time. The Labour deputies, who are the most powerful of the smaller groups, have always been more sympathetically disposed towards Mr. de Valera tli an to Mr-. Cosgrave, and Mr. de Valera had to rely on them in earlier Administrations to preserve his Government's stability. The new strength of the Fanners' Party introduces a more incalculable element which is likely to influence Mr. de Valera's agricultural policy.
