RELIEF FOR RUSSIA

EFFECT OF ALLIED RAIDS LONDON, June 24. The British and American attacks on western Germany had assisted considerably in imposing a stalemate on the German army on the Russian front. The Moscow correspondent of the "Daily Herald" says that this impression was gathered from a conversation with Colonel Karoliev, commander of' 15 airfields. Colonel Karoliev said that the bombing of Germany's industrial centres had considerably affected her plane output, and had also led to the withdrawal of many fighters for the protection of factory areas. So many fighters had been removed for this purpose that it was doubtful whether the Luftwaffe now had sufficient of them in Russia to cover a major offensive.
