"GIRLS' OWN SERVICE"
LIFE BRIGADE PARADE Her Excellency Lady Newall attended the "girls' own service" held on Sunday at the Kent Terrace Pres byterian Church in connection witr the Girls' Life Brigade week observance throughout New Zealand. Her Excellency, who is patroness of the movement, was accompanied by Miss Walton, and received in the vestibule 3f the church by the Wellington battalion chaplain, the Rev. W. Elliott, the battalion president, Mrs. A. A. Brown, and the battalion commandant, Major T. Price. Two hundred officers and girls of the Wellington Battalion paraded, led by the Boys' Brigade Band, and representatives of the Boys' Brigade, the Boy Scouts, and the Girl Guides attended the service. The Rev. Ashleigh Petch was the preacher, his subject being "The Hal] of Friendship." The Dominion chaplain, the Rev. Lawrence North, tool* part in the service, and five small girls from the 3rd Wellington Company sang a hymn. The battalion flag was set in a place of honour, and the flags of each company were held aloft throughout the service by the three members of each colour party,' the girls •each holding the flag for 15 minutes at a time.
