RED CROSS DELEGATE

PRAISE FOR NEWS SHEET

Mrs. Peter Nash, president and founder of the N.Z. Prisoners of War Relatives Association, has received the following encouraging letter from the organising secretary of the British Prisoners of War Relatives Association in London: —

"Dear Mrs. Nash, —The other day I showed your news sheet to the delegate of the International Red Cross in London. He was very much impressed and asked me if I would convey to you the request that the monthly issue of your publication might be forwarded to him. He gave me to understand that when it has been read in the London office it will be forwarded to Geneva. He has always emphasised

that the publications issued by a prisoners of war relatives association are of inestimable value to the International Red Cross Committee. May I say how much your publicationl is appreciated in this office. It is passed round and read by as many as possible. Will you please accept our very good wishes and convey the same to all your members. Yours • sincerely (signed) P. M. Stewart."

LETTERS OF PRISONERS OF WAR,

The Prisoner of War Relatives Association was the first organisation of its kind started in New Zealand and at the recent annual meeting it was stated that the year had closed with a membership of 1831, showing a steady increase during the past twelve months. Extracts from the letters of prisoners of war had been received regularly and were more than sufficient for each issue of the news sheet. The fact that many letters of appreciation of the news sheet had been received showed that the association was fulfilling a very useful purpose. It was also stated that excellent work had been accomplished by the Wanganui branch.
