CHINESE MOVE ON FLANK CHUNGKING, May 19. Bitter fighting is raging in the suburbs of Chih-kiang, where, the Chinese are battling to outflank the Japanese offensive in the Lake Tungting' region, according to a Chinese communique, which reveals that the enemy forces holding Chih-kiang received 5000 or 6000 reinforcements after a savage Chinese attack which killed 1000 Japanese and netted heavy booty. ■ Heavy casualties continue to be inflicted on both sides. The communique says the Chinese are holding Japanese thrusts west of Lake Tungting at Tsing-shih. . The Chinese, counter-attacking m the Taihang Mountains, seized the town of Tung Hao-tsi, and are now pushing into the outskirts of Linhsien in the west of central Shansi province which the Japanese captured last month.
