A REAL ANZAC DAY

Sir, —The ex-servicewomen of New Zealand wish to associate themselves with the standard of ideals put forward by the members of the R.S.A. with regard to the extra holiday given on Monday, presumably to commemorate the New Zealand men who fell in the last war. Anzac Day is a day on which all New Zealand people should wish to remember those who paid the supreme sacrifice. As Anzac Day fell on a Sunday, surely it should not be necessary to demand that sections of the public be given a "holiday." The sentiment appears to be entirely wrong, as Anzac Day was originally intended as only to commemorate the fallen. —I am, etc.,
