Lecture Wednesday Night, 7.30.. T-.-. _. IJtheTvvordll j 1 "CAN YE NOT DISCERN THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES?" (Jesus—Matt: l(i :3.) "f^AS ye not discern the signs of the v_y times?" So said Jesus to the Jews at His first coming. The fnilure of the Jews to "discern thes signs of the times" resulted in their rejection of Jesus, their Messiah (Acts 13:27, John 1:11, Matt. 13:15). The Jews have since suffered terribly for their blindness and folly.- A study of the Scriptures reveals that history will repeat itself. Both Jesus. Christ and His Apostles taught that Christ's second coming "with power and great glory" would be preceded by unmistakable "signs" by which believers would "see the day approaching" (Acts 1:11, Act 3 3:19-21, Luke 21:25-28, 1 Thess. 5:1-4, Hebs. 10:25). Some of these "signs," which were expected and written about by students of prophecy many years before they occurred, are:— (1) The gradual decline of the Turkish Empire leading up to Turkey's loss of Palestine (Rev. 16:12.). (2) Britain's control of Palestine (Ezek. 38:13). (3) The return of the Jews to Palestine under British protection (Ezek. 36:24, Ezek. 37:21, Ezek. 38:11-17). (4) "Distress of nations with perplexity" (Luke 21:25-27, Dan. 12:1). (5) Wickedness, ■corruption, and- violence rife in the earth "as it was in the days of Noah" (Luko 17 :20-30, Gen. 6:5-13). (C) Unprecedented preparation for war resulting In universal war which eventually leads to the "gathering of all nations against Jerusalem to battle" and Divine intervention in-the person of Jesus Christ returned to earth (Joel 3 :9-10, Matt. 24 :29, Mark 13 :25, Zech. 14:2-4, Joel 3:1-2, EzeK\ chap. 38, Dau. 11:40-45, Dan. 12:1-3, Zech. 12:0-14). Though the Divine intention is that the above and other contemporary fulfilments of prophecy should herald the second coming of Christ, the mass of mankind today are as "blind" in relation to "the signs of the times" as were the Jews at tiio first coming of Christ. The result, as foretold, is that the return of Christ will come "AS A SNARE" upon all peoples of the earth (Luke 21:35, 1 Thess. 5:2, 2 Peter 3:10, Rev. 16:15). ■ Reader, your eyes will be opened in relation to "the signs of the times" and coining events if you read and study the Holy Scriptures. As a help with your studies we recommend your reading the book "CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY." A copy will be 6ent free on application to . "BIBLE TRUTH," Box 71, Wellington. VIVIAN ST.
