GREEKS GIVE TROUBLE

AXIS REPRISAL

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 18. Greek patriots occupied the town of Padigani and held it for several days, says an Ankara message. German and Italian troops recaptured the town only after stiff fighting and the employment of planes. Italian troops also had to retake Kastoria from patriots. A hundred and fifty citizens of Kastoria were executed as a reprisal and 500 hostages were taken. The people of Athens are openly demonstrating against oppressive German measures. Recently they marched to the Government building of the Ministry of Labour, and the Italians were only able to quell skirmishes in the centre of the city with the aid of tanks and bombs.
