OPERATIONS OF FRENCH WARSHIPS

RUGBY, February 16,

French warships will be under the Frehch command, but will operate under Allied leadership wherever they are assigned, the American Secretary of the Navy, Colonel Knox, told the Press. For example, in the Mediterranean they will operate under Admiral Cunningham, and in the Pacific under Admiral Nimitz. Their assignment had not yet been decided.

Colonel Knox added that there were no new developments in connection with the warships in the French West Indies, including the aircraft-carrier Beam and the cruisers Jeanne d'Arc and Emile Bertin.—B.O.W.
