Watts, chairman, Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, has pointed out to the retail section of the community that the onus was thrown on employers to see that rationing coupons were demanded from purchasers. Unfortunately this had not been strictly adhered to, and heavy penalties were provided/There, had been a threat that if the rationing was not, strictly adhered to, coupons would be required for the purchase of stock. Lincoln Hats, Ltd., Victoria, for year endod September 30 showed net profit £396, which reduces accumulated loss to £1707. Since close of the year the directors report United Felt Hats Pty., Ltd., has paid a dividend of 7 per cent, on the company's holding of shares in that firm. • Australian Cement, Ltd., profit for year ended November 30 was £95,430, compared with £96,076 for preceding term, and £97,359 for 1940. Dividend of 10 per cent, and bonus of I*4 per cent, was paid for the year, the distribution in the preceding year being 10 per cent, dividend and 2Vts per cent, bonus. The report states that the restrictions on civil building had considerably affected the cement trade, which was now almost completely employed in fulfilling requirements of defence and essential services.
