NEW SERVICE CLUBS
AMERICAN RED CROSS
Announcing that the new service club in Masterton would be opened next Saturday, Miss .Hannah More Frazer, who is in charge of club and off-camp activities for the American Red Cross in New Zealand, said that they had taken over a big building, which had been entirely fitted out for the purpose. There was a big dance floor which would be used for games in the daytime, and there were also a restaurant, lounge, and writingroom. The club would be under the supervision of Mrs. T. Learmont, of the American Red Cross. Miss Frazer added that they expected to open a club for Wellington in the Hotel Cecil building in about ten days. This was a temporary measure, as some difficulties had arisen over the building planned for the site behind the Central Library. The ground and first floors of the hotel building would be used for the club, and the facilities w rould include a dining-room, library, reading room, writing room, recreation room, and billiard room, with the additional use of a nearby building for dancing. Badminton courts would be made in the garden. Both these clubs will be open to all Allied servicemen, in accordance with the custom of the American Red Cross. ~- _^
