CHANGES IN ITALY
LONDON, February 5. The men who replace the dismissed Ministers in the Italian Cabinet are little known, and are probably , no more than Mussolini's nominees. The dismissed Ministers were 100 per cent. Fascists, and there are no reports reaching London of a split between them and Mussolini. The new appointments are as follows:— Alfredo Denarsico, Minister of Justice, replacing Count Grandi, who remains President of the Chamber of Fascist Corporations. Baron Giacomo Acerbo, Minister of Finance, replacing Count di Revel. Carlo Biggini (rector of Pisa University), Minister of Education (replacing Signor Bottai). Oreste Bonomi, Minister of Foreign Currency, replacing Signor Riccardi. National Councillor Zenone Benini, ! Minister of Public Works, replacing | Signor Gorla. G. Cmi, Minister of Communications, replacing Signor Venturi. Carlo Tiengo, Minister of Corporations, replacing Signor Ricci. Olverelli (former Under-Secretary of State), Minister of National Enlightenment, replacing Signor Pavolini. Umberto Albini, Under-Secretary to the Home Ministry, replacing Signor' Guidi. i The news of "the changes has evoked some interest in London. Rome has given no indication as to the causes of such sweeping changes, but, in view of the series of disasters which Italy has suffered in past months, the surprise is not at the changes but that they have not occurred earlier. It may well be that Mussolini, in an attempt to stem the deterioration in public morale, has followed the example of his German master in similar cir-^ cumstances by concentrating mor* power in his own hands.
