' I_ ■ _ 6 THE JwORdI -} "FOR HE (GOD), HATH MADE HIM (JESUS) TO BE SIN FOR US, WHO KNEW NO SIN; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM" (2 Cor. 5:21). IN -the Bible the word "Sin" Is used tn two senses. Firstly It signifies "the transgressions of law" (1 John 3:4) and secondly "It represents that physical principle of the animal nature, which is the cause of all Its diseases, death, and resolution into dust. It is that in the flesh 'which has the power of death'; and it is called sin, because the development, or fixation, of this evil in the flesh, was the result of transgression (Roms. 5:12). Inasmuch as this evil principle pervades every part of the flesh, the animal nature Is styled 'sinful flesh,' that is, 'flesh full of sin' (Roms. >U:3); so! that slri," in the sacred style, came to stand for the substance called Man. In human flesh 'dwells no good thing' (Roms.. 7:18); and all the evil a man does is the result of this principle dwelling in him (Roms. 7:17)." When therefore the Scriptures teach that Christ was "made sin" (2 Cor. 5:21) reference is made to tha physical body Jesus inherited from His mother, Mary, for it is a fundamental teaching at the Holy Scriptures that "Jesus Christ came in the flesh" (2 John 7, I John 4:3) even that "flesh in which, dwelleth no good thing" (Roms. 7:lß)—"sinful flesh" or /'flesh full of siu", (Roms. 8:3). liui though Jesus Christ inherited from Mary a "body of sin" He personally "knew no sin" (transgression), He was "without sin" in word, thought, and deed (Hebs. 4:15, I Pet. 2:22, I Peter 1:19). Being, therefore, a sinless bearer of sinful human nature, Jesus Christ was an "acceptable sacrifice for sin, for when Christ was crucified • upon the cross three things were "accomplished: (1) .The righteousness of God was exhibited in the condemnation of "sin in the flesh" (Roms. 8:3, Roms. 3:25); (2) the devil (Christ's body) was destroyed (Hebs. 2:14) ; and (3) the process of taking away "the sin of the world" (i.e. sin in human nature) was begun (John 1:29, Hebs. 9:26). Reader, the Gospel which must be believed for salvation is defined in the Bible as "The things concerning the . Kingdom of" God and those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 8:12, Acts 28:30-31, Mark 16:16, Roms. 1:16). In the foregoing are some of j "the things which concern the Lord Jesus , Christ." For further enlightenment you should read the book "CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY." A copy of this Book, together with other Christadelphian literature relating to the above, will be sent free on application to "BIBLE TRUTH," Box 71, Wellington. mRADES HALL, Vivian St. (side entrance)— X Come. She tells how a brother: there has had texts put in the tiams, following our example. She said: "It is a good work to nut up' God's Word for the people to read. First, it gives honour to His great name and pleases Him—no; small > thing-'.: .to those who love Him. It is' a- cheer to. His people, as many can tell.
