HERE AND THERE
Victoria League Luncheon. An invitation is extended to all members of the Victoria League to attend: the first luncheon of the year in .the league rooms next Tuesday. A large attendance is hoped for as the president, Mrs. J. A. Doctor, will outline plans for the forthcoming season. Te Ropu Club. Te Ropu Maori Club resumed activities on Friday, when there was a happy gathering in connection with the usual soldiers' parcels effort. The president and committee had worked hard to keep up the continuity 'of overseas parcels and some of these were on view neatly packed in the orthodox way. The thanks and gratitude of the club was expressed by Mrs. Hapi Love, for the way in which the_ supporters had made these efforts pos-i sible., Mrs. Cox, president of the Alice--town Townswomen's Guild, gave an;; interesting talk about Melbourne. Miss* Dorothy Seymour contributed amusingcharacter sketches, and Mrs. H. Griffiths and the Misses Mokoroa, Ina, and Maira Love, daughters of Makea Nui Takau Rio Love, who was also present, sang. Letters expressing the delight and pleasure of the many recipients of parcels were read by the secretary. Flower sprays were presented to the guestspeaker and artists.
