THREE MONTHS' KILLINGS
The official figures of killings for tlie present season at the Dominion's freezing works from October 1 till January 2, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings now total 1,930,314 carcasses, this being a decrease of 601,130 carcasses compared with the killings to January 3 last season. Wether mutton killings are 37,189 carcasses, 'and ewe mutton killings 73,826 carcasses, compared with 104,849 and 47,368 carcasses respectively last season. Frozen beef production has reached 44,166 quarters compared with 30,985 quarters last season. Porker killings total 8517 carcasses, a decrease of 22,068, whilst baconers total 35,638 carcasses, a decrease of 70,160.
AUCKLAND WOOL APPRAISAL. » The next Auckland wool appraisal is scheduled to commence on Thursday, when 28,000 to 30,000 bales will be offered. Catalogues for this appraisement closed over a week ago, and since then wool has been arriving steadily into brokers' stores. Owing to the large quantity of wool already in Auckland, and as the next appraisal In which this wool could be offered does not commence until March 4, the Woolbrokers' Association has requested growers to withhold the consignment of their wool in the meantime, in order to minimise the congestion. MINING RETURNS. (P.A.) GREYMOUTH, Jan. 18. The dredge returns for the first half of January are:—Barrytown, 153 ounces for 194 hours and 89,000 yards excavated; Kanieri, 455 ounces for 229 hours and 79,000 yards ; Arahura, 279 ounces for 142 hours and 67,000 yards. . , , NEW ZEALAND REFRIGERATING. The New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd., advises the Stock Exchange Association [of New Zealand that the annual accounts, which | will be posted to shareholders shortly, will show an amount of £88,709 3s 6d available for appropriation, Including £39,987 0s 7d brought forward from last year. The directors recommend a dividend of o xA Per cent, and that there should be added to the rebuilding reserve £15,000 and carried ' forward £38,712 12s 6d. Transfer books will be closed for dividend purposes from Monday, February 1, to Saturday, February 20, both days inclusive. Dividends will be payable approximately on February 22.
