SEVERE AXIS LOSSES AMERICAN AIR ATTACKS

Reuters Algiers correspondent duotes a Canadian correspondent for a report that the United States Air Force today destroyed 23 enemy planes and damaged 34, losing two American machines. Flying Fortresses plastered military camps and- drydocks at La Goulette, and R.A.F. fighters, during sweeps and interceptions over Bona, destroyed eight Axis ?&L I(pSS RUGBY, Jan. (* • Allied air attacks in North Africa yesterday were concentrated on enemy supply lines at Tunis, states a correspondent at Allied headquarters. Marauders bombed railway yards and started fires. Later, Fortresses successfully attacked harbour installations. The enemy made three attempts at Bone harbour. The first was made by dive-bombers. The second and third were intercepted. One Junkers 87 was destroyed and several were damaged. One of our machines was lost by anti-aircraft fire in a raid on Tunis.—B.O.W.
