OBITUARY

FLIGHT SERGT. G. S. LLOYD

Flight Sergeant Geoffrey S. Lloyd, reported killed on active service, was well known as a producer of plays and also as a radio announcer. Born at Bootle, Liverpool, in 1919, he came to New Zealand as a boy and was educated at the Roseneath School (where he was dux) and at Wellington College. After serving on the staff of National Magazines, he joined the Commercial Broadcasting Service in 1937 and remained with it until join-

ing the Air Force. He was a good allround athlete, and when at college he gained a place in the Rugby football first fifteen as well as being prominent in swimming, in which sport he later won the Auckland Public Service championship. He was also a keen water polo player. Always interested in stage play work, he had taken a prominent part in having plays and novelty presentations placed before the public.
