An increase in deaths, but a decrease in births and marriages, was recorded in Wellington last year. Following are the statistics, the figures for 1941 being given in parentheses:— . Year: Births, 2980 (3054); deaths, 1829 (1585); marriage notices, 1905 (2017); marriages by registrar, 502 (480). Last quarter: Births, 683 (807); deaths, 456 (450); marriage notices, 556 (550); marriages by registrar, 132 (128). December: Births, 237 (276); deaths, 137 (164); marriage notices, 191 (223); marriages by registrar, 54 (60).
