. OBJECTIVES IN CRETE

(Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, January 3. The Allied air attack on Crete mentioned in today's Middle East comgaunique is described, in a Cairo message as the heaviest raiding operations there for some months. A force of heavy bombers of the United States Air Force made the first attack on the Heraclion Aerodrome, which was followed by daylight raids by British bombers. The targets for the Americans were port installations in Suda Bay and the aerodromes at-Tympaki. A large force of bombers attacked the latter place, bombs falling across the runways and 'fix the dispersal area. Heavy bombers also attacked Kasteli and. Pediada Aerodromes tonight, and this was followed by a solid daylight attack. Much damage was done.—B.O.W.
