News from: an English link was read, and .items and competitions enjoyed: Reports on sewing and knitting, sent in by institute Red Cross groups were received at the recent Stokes Valley meeting, and Mrs. Kehoe spoke on the council, meeting held at Wallaceville. Mi's. Rishworth,; federation1 "president, was a special guest at the meeting. A talk by Mrs. Bennett, musical items, and competitions made up,an' enjoyable; programme.' ■ *,' ' ; Two parcels of clothing have been sent to England. through ■ the; .Church Army, and five soldiers', parcels have, been packed and dispatched' ,byv members' of the Paekakariki Institute.., Two parcels were also sent to the WellingtorT; Patriotic Society for men 'serving overseas. All servicemen- from -the Newlands district have received a, parcel each month . from this branch of the Women's /Institute and in addition five patriotic parcels are , delivered every three months. Knitted garments completed' by the/institutes Red Cross knitting bee vincluded jerseysr pullovers, socks, skull caps, and balaclavas.
