VEGETABLE INDUSTRY
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. I<J. Speculation is rife concerning the Government's intentions in dealing with the vegetable'industry. Auck: land growers' and merchants were represented at the" conference in Wei* lihgton last week when growers were asked to produce within a week figures concerning costs of production. 'It "is ' understood that the Government intends to fix maximum and minimum prices for all vegetables^ though one suggestion made locally is that the State may purchase crops outright and pay guaranteed prices" It is also understood that the Government has under consideration a big "scheme tq increase' the production 0 f vege't^ ables and develop dehydration.
