• Having pleaded guilty at Palmerston North to;indecent, assault on a female, James Athol Petrie, soldier and milk vendor, aged 22 (Mr. R. L. A. Cresswell), was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, by Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court today. His Honour said it was true that nowadays young people were allowed to go to dances and return home at a late hour without any arrangement having been made for an. escort, but that was no justification for an offence of the type which the prisoner had committed.
