STEAMER TORPEDOED OFF COAST OF NATAL
(Rec. 9 a.m.) PRETORIA, Dec. 13.
Six survivors state that the steamer Amarylis (4330 tons), "bound from Suez to Durban, was torpedoed on December 2 off the. coast of Natal. Sharks took terrible toll of swimmers. Italian prisoners of war from the Amarylis screamed to the U-boat commander for help, but only one was taken aboard.
