LONDON SHARE INDICES. LONDON, December 10. "Financial Times" indices (1920 equals 100) :—

T. AND G. YEAR. Tho Australian Temperance and General Mutual Life Society reports for the year ended September 30 last income £7,107,335, new business £12,058,342; assets, £39,517,038; assurances in force (excluding accident department), £105,584,957; payments to policyholders, £3,094,033. Assets Include Government and public body securities, £22,998,978; loans, £12,499,789, and properties £3,112,506. Total liabilities include funds £38,208,202. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received cabled advice from Its head office that the company will hold its annual meeting in England on December 23. A dividend of 5 per cent, on the • cumulative preference stock is recommended for tho year ended June 30, 1942, subject to a deduction of Gs 2d in the £ for English income tax (standard rate 10s less Dominion Income tax relief 3s lOd). The directors advise that heavy taxation liability again precludes tho payment of an ordinary dividend. The transfer books of tho New Zealand branch register of the compahy will be closed from December 14 to December 31, inclusive. DIVIDENDS ANNOUNCED. Grey River Dredging Co., dividend Is per share, payable December 23. Denhard Bread, interim preference dividend, 3% per cent, per annum, less 2s 6d in the £ for social and national security taxes, payable December lfi. PIGS AND POULTRY. The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report receiving a largo entry of pigs and a capacity entry of poultry at their last sale, baconers selling to £4, heavy porkers to £3 4s, and weanei's to 295. Poultry Was again keenly sought after. Prices were as follows : —Pigs: Best weaners, 26s Gd to 29s each; medium, 20s to 245; slips, 34s to 365; stores, 38s to £2 6s; heavy porkers, £2 16s to £3 4s; prime light weights, to £2 15s; others, £2 10s to £2 12s 6d; baconers, to £4; sow and litter, £8; sow to farrow, £3 12s Cd. Poultry: Best heavy hens, 5s to Cs 9d each; medium, 3s 9d to 4s 9d; young ducks, 7s 3d to 9s; old, 2s 2d to 4s 4d; pullets, 6s to 10s; heavy cockerels, 3s 9d to ss; medium, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; small, Cd to Is Gd each; roosters, 3s to ss; young geese, 7s 7d to 10s 6d; turkey hens, to 235; hens and cliickß, to 10s Cd.
