TO BE DISCHARGED
OVERSEAS GRADE 111 MEN
Arrangements had. been made by Army Headquarters to review the cases of all soldiers who after service overseas had been classed ■■. as Grade 111, said the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) yesterday.
"As explained recently by the Prime Minister," the Minister added, : "the regulations have been altered so as to ! permit the complete discharge from the j armed forces of those men who have been placed in Grade HI and granted leave without pay because they are unfit for further active service whether within or beyond New Zealand. ■ The cases of such men will be reviewed in the order in which they arrived back in : New Zealand, and any man who is entitled to a discharge will be notified and will receive a certificate of discharge. .■ ■ ■ ::* ■ ' .'. ■'■ ■'-:■ ■■ :;/- . '■'■. ■ ■'--■■ "It will-be appreciated," added; the Minister, "that it will take some, time, to complete the review, but every effort will be made, to expedite the work and it is hoped that it will be possible to commence the issue of certificates of discharge early next year/* ■■ .
