ALLIED BLUNDER
CENSORSHIP DELAYS
NEWS OF WAR
(Rec. 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 8. ' Criticism-of the way in which the news of the North African campaign is, being issued is growing:. In view of the check which the Allied plans have suffered and the. rising public doubts because of this, it is felt that there is pressing need for a reorganisation of the machinery which Allied Headquarters has devised for releasing news.
The need for secrecy is well understood, but the complaint is of, the bad presentation of the information that is released. Allied Headquarters has allowed such information as has been issued to come from correspondents of radio stations more or less under its control, and from French Headquarters in Algeria. . •-..■.. Newspaper correspondents' dispatches, except for brief flashes, have been so long delayed- as to be useless for drawing a picture of the campaign, and only add to the confusion.
