MR. J. H. BURN
By the death of Mr. J. H. Burn this week, Petone loses one of its most prominent industrialists. Mr. Burn was born in England and arrived in New Zealand with his parents when a child. After his education in Petone he served his apprenticeship as an engineer with the Mort Dock and Engineering" Co., Sydney, Australia. After his return,he served for a period in. the signals branch of the Railway Department, but in I'9OB he joined his father in the firm of Burn and Son. Mr. Burn was, responsible for numerous improvements to film projectors, a line in which he specialised for a number, of years. Since the death of his father, whose mechanical genius was recognised even beyond New Zealand, the son had had control of the business. He was a strong supporter of various sports bodies in Petone and a member of the Wellington Trotting Club. He is survived by : his wife; two daughters, and a son. -
