A NEW HEALTH CAMP
Emergency conditions at the Wellington Hospital unfortunately made it necessary for the board to take over the children's health camp at Otaki. This has deprived many under-nourished children of the undoubted advantages of a period spent under ideal living conditions and in one of the most bracing and healthgiving climates in New Zealand. It is satisfactory to learn, therefore, that, although Otaki is no longer available and probably will not be available until after the war, arrangements have been made to establish another camp at Hokio, near Levin. This will accommodate about 45 children, less than half the number that could be accommodated at Otaki. It says much for the enthusiasm and determination of Dr. H. E. Gibbs and those associated with him in this very valuable social activity that difficulties have not been allowed to stand in the way of keeping the health camp movement alive. There is abundant evidence of the great benefit received by children who have been privileged to spend periods at Otaki, and the public will welcome the announcement that the good work is.to go on, even on a limited scale.
