NORTHLAND CONCERT

The capacity audience before whom the Ngati-Poneke Maori Concert Party performed last evening in St. Anne's Hall, Northland, provided further evidence of the popularity of these entertainers. The occasion was a concert held by the next-of-kin committee, Northland branch of the Women's Section of the Returned Services' Association, and the organisers and all who assisted them had every reason to be pleased with the result of their effort. The concert, both as an entertainment and as a means of creating added interest in the activities of the branch, was highly successful, those present, including a number of overseas servicemen, who thoroughly enjoyed the hakas, traditional songs and dances, etc., which comprised the programme. Later the concert party and the visiting servicemen were the guests of the committee at supper, -where Major McQueen, on behalf of the servicemen, spoke in appreciative terms of the entertainment, the efforts of the committee, and the support accorded them by the Northland residents.
