ILL-FOUNDED RUMOURS
I Refuting ill-founded rumours, authentic information reveals that Deanna Durbin, famous star of Universal Pictures, has recently finished her eleventh picture. j Miss Durbin's latest film depicts the story of China's struggle. Madame Rosalynde Chang.. internationally famous author, lecturer, and diplomat, was engaged by Universal Pictures as technical adviser. "We have been fighting the Japs for nearly five years now," j Madame Chang said, "and China has suffered —suffered horribly. But through it all we have continued to fight, and we will continue to fight until we are victorious." In the film Deanna Durbin sings a 3000-year-old Chinese lullaby, "Mong Djang Nu," which mothers sang to their children when their husbands were drafted to build the Great Wall of China She sings the song in Chinese, having been tutored by Madame Chang. HUSBAND IN U.S. FORCES. Immediately after completing "For ever Yours" Miss Durbin left Hollywood for a prolonged visit with her husband, Vaughn Paul, who is now with the United States Forces stationed somewhere in America for the time being. Deanna Durbin has made more than one personal appearance tour of American military camps, affording many admirers an opportunity of seeing their favourite singing star in person.
