BATTLE FLEET

NOW IN INDIAN OCEAN

FOUR SHIPS NAMED

(By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright.) (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 23. It can now be revealed that Britain has a powerful battle fleet operating in the Indian Ocean and also aldng the east coast of Africa under the command of Admiral Somerville. , The "Evening News" says the fleet comprises at least the battleships Warspite, Royal Sovereign, and Resolution, and also the air-craft-carrier Illustrious. Although^ ~, no mention is made of §ny other " warships it can be -presumed that these four ships are accompanied by the normal screen of cruisers, destroyers, and auxiliaries. • Their presence in eastern waters probably/ accounts for the reduced activity iof the Japanese navy outside the Pacific after the abortive attempt against Ceylon several months ago.
