ALCOHOLIC LIQUORS

WOMEN SUGGEST RATIONING

(P.A.) WANGANUI, October 23. "That the Government be urged to extend the rationing system to include beer and other alcoholic liquors," was a remit passed by delegates to the Wanganui branch of the National Council of Women.

The remit was tabled by the Wanganui Housewives' Union at last month's meeting, and delegates during the month discussed it with their organisations and voted on it last night. Supporting the remit the following information was included: The manufacture of beer alone requires annually 400,000 bushels of barley, 300,000 bushels of malt, and 4,032,0001b of sugar. The remit will be sent to headquarters and from there will be circulated throughout branches of the N.C.W.
