NEW HONOUR FOR MALTA ACE
(Rec. 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 22. The House of Representatives adopted the conference report on the supplementary navy appropriation of 15,851,000,000 dollars. Senate approval is expected this week.
The measure includes the provision for 14,611 naval planes, 500,000 tons of aircraft-carriers, and 500,000 tons of cruisers.

Malta's outstanding fighter pilot, 21----year-old Pilot Officer G. F. Beurling. destroyer of 28 enemy aircraft, who already possesses the D.F.C. and a bar to the D.F.M., has been awarded the D.S.O. He is now in hospital with a wounded heel.—B.O.W.
