TRENTHAM TRACKS

NOT AFFECTED BY RAIN

Following upon a boisterous night, the high wind being accompanied by light, misty rain, this morning broke dull but fine at Trentham. The tracks were not affected, and the outside of the course proper was open to those essaying fast work. The majority, however, were content to do pace work on the plough, which bore little evidence of rain. Caroline Bay, with a lightweight in the saddle, slipped over half a mile in 48sec, but her stablemate, High Class, with a heavier poundage, required 49 l-ssec. « Yin d'Honneur and Boulder Dam were travelling well within themselves at the end of five furlongs, the last half-mile occupying 53sec.

Golden Survey and Vaalsmoss were clear of Sir Crusoe at the end of half a mile in 48sec. The two northerners both impressed, Golden Survey particularly so. , Farcical and Tawhainui took 49 2-ssec for half a mile. Poutatau, who followed, clipped the fractions off over the same distance.

Madame Rachel, after being slower than Tavern Light to begin, ran up to the leader, and they came home together to complete five furlongs in lmin ssec.

The two-year-olds Islam and Grey Salute ran down from the three furlongs peg in 37sec. Islam appeared to be going the bettter at the post. Screen, another Wellesley Stakes candidate, after a slow beginning, ran half a mile in 50sec. She has been having trouble with a knee, but looked quite all right after the gallop. Lincoln and Imperium went an easy five furlongs in lmin 9sec.

Don't Forget, Fairy Godmother. Amigo.

The only further scratching officially announced up to noon was Bunsby, who was withdrawn from the October Handicap at 11.15 a.m.
