TRENTHAM TRACKS
NOT AFFECTED BY RAIN
(By "Binocular.")
Following upon a boisterous night, the high wind being accompanied by light, misty rain, this morning broke dull but fine at Trentham. The tracks were not affected, and the outside of the course proper was open to those essaying fast work. The majority, however, were content to do pace work on the plough, which bore little evidence of rain. Caroline Bay, with a lightweight in the saddle, slipped over half a mile in 48sec, but her stablemate, High Class, with a heavier poundage, required 49 l-ssec. « Yin d'Honneur and Boulder Dam were travelling well within themselves at the end of five furlongs, the last half-mile occupying 53sec.

Madame Rachel, after being slower than Tavern Light to begin, ran up to the leader, and they came home together to complete five furlongs in lmin ssec.
The two-year-olds Islam and Grey Salute ran down from the three furlongs peg in 37sec. Islam appeared to be going the bettter at the post. Screen, another Wellesley Stakes candidate, after a slow beginning, ran half a mile in 50sec. She has been having trouble with a knee, but looked quite all right after the gallop.
