CUBA STREET FIRE

A fire of unknown origin caused considerable damage to a brick shed and its contents in an alleyway behind a fishshop in Cuba Street shortly after 7 a.m. today. There were fish-shop stores and a car in the shed, and the stores were well alight when the brigade arrived, but the firemen concentrated first on saving the car, and although it had no wheels and was resting on blocks, it was not damaged. The rest of the contents and the shed, itself were burned.
