FIRE IN WASHHOUSE

MOTHER AND CHILD INJURED (P.A.) DARGAVILTDE, This Day. A fire broke out this morning in a State-owned house occupied by Mrs. H. Potts, whose husband is a member of the armed forces. She was outside the house when she found the washhouse attached to the residence in flames. The front door was locked and she dashed into the burning washhouse and succeeded in rescuing her 18-months-old daughter, but both she and the child were burned, the latter somewhat severely. The Dargaville Fire Brigade quickly suppressed the flames. The washhouse was badly damaged.
