*— STOPPED BY U.S. SECRETARY OF WAR WASHINGTON. September 25. The Secretary of War, Mr. H. L. Stimson, has cancelled the Louis-Conn heavyweight fight, which was scheduled for October 12. Mr. Stimson explained that the I standards and interests of the army c>did ; not permit the proposed contest being I carried out. Sergeant Barrow (Joe Louis) and Corporal Conn would be returned immediately to military duties. ' . The army appreciated what Louis had done in the past.
