"ACTIVITY IN MIDDLE EAST (Rec. 12.20 p.m.) RUGBY.. Sept. 27. The Cairo communique records patrol activity and artillery exchanges in the northern sector. "On Friday," it says, "two enemy bombers were destroyed over the ; Kufra Oasis, and on the same day our ! fighters operating from Malta shot down an Italian plane near Kuriat ' Island. 'Our bombers on the night of Sepitember 25-26 attacked targets at Tobruk, Sollum, Maaten, and Bagush, and j long-range fighters successfully attacked transport on the road between Bardia and Tobruk. [ "During an offensive patrol oyer Sicily we shot down a Messerschmitt. A Junkers was shot down in the vicinity of Suez yesterday. j "From the above and other operations two of our machines failed to return."—B.O.W.
