SUPPLIES OF FOOD
AUSTRALIAN ACTION URGED
CANBERRA, September 25. "It is essential that there should be adequate food supplies for Britain as well as Australia, and that the day on which the war ends we should have thousands of tons of food in store to feed the famished nations of the world," said Sir Earle Page, formerly Australian representative in the British War Cabinet in advocating the rationing of all primary products. He also advocated Government acquisition of foodstuffs, the subsidising of primary industries, and the control of food prices and transport costs. \
"To declare two beefless and muttonless days is not enough in the face of reduced production," he said. "There should be a comprehensive plan for dealing with the position. Foods in Australia should be rationed in the same way as clothes are rationed."
