DRAMA FESTIVAL
(0.C.) LEVIN, This Day. The Century Hall, Levin, was crowded for the final presentation of oneact plays in the annual drama festival held by the Southern Wellington Division of the New Zealand Women's Institutes. Twelve companies, representing the institutes of Paekakariki, Plimmerton, Tawa Flat, Otaki, Te Horo. and Levin, had entered and trials were held during the week at Paekakariki and Otaki. Five teams appeared at Levin. Mrs. Beeby, the adjudicator, awarded first place to Te | Horo for an excellent rendering of "Novelette." Levin came second, with "Robin a Tip-toe," and Otaki third, with "Red Wax." Encouraging results nave attended the opening of the appeal for recruits for the nursing profession in the Weli lington area. The enrolment of pupil nurses at the Wellington Hospital, for instance, has received a gratifying impetus, with the result, it was stated today, that the periodical training class I groups arranged at the hospital have been filled very much sooner than was expected. In view of the need for more nurses, the organisers of the appeal are hopeful that this result will { be sustained in other parts. I
