FINED FOR BOOKMAKING
"Having nothing to do he amused himself running a shilling double, but he promises not to do it again," said Mr. F. W. Ongley in the Magistrate's Court today concerning Harold Vincent Potter, aged 43. a carpentei% for whom he appeared. Potter pleaded guilty to carrying on tfte' business of :a bookmaker and was fined £15 by Mr. J. L. Stout. S.M: :
•Senior-Sergeant G. Paine said that Potter was found taking bets in the bar of a city hotel with a book and a home-made double chart. He was "quite a small man in the bookmaking world." He had been gassed in the Jast war and was unable to do heavy work.
