INCREASED WEIGHT
POUNDING OF GERMANY
• RUGBY, August 13. During .'.'July 13,000 ton's! of bombs was dropped pn Germany, compared with 3500 tons Jn the same month of 1940 and 8500 tons in July, 1941. Minelaying was also many times increased. Air experts are of the opinion that, given good weather, there is no reason why bombing should not continue on an equivalent scale. This increase has beeni made while more and more bomtiers have 'been sent" to other theatres of war. . .
Fewer than 200 bombers dropped over 450 tons of bombs on Osnabruck during the recent raid—more than the Germans ever dropped on Britain in one night. The bombs' included be-. tween 40 and 50 of the 40001b type. From July 12 to August 11, the R.A.F. undertook harassing operations on 26 days, and only three periods of 24 hours were without raids. Of the 13, night raids which were made oh Germany, only one was with fewer than 20ff aircraft, and one was with more than 600, while the others had between 200 and 450 machines.—B.O.W.
