PARCELS FOR SOLDIERS
N.Z. PRISONERS WRITE FROM GERMANY
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrioht.)
(Special Correspondent.)
(Rec. 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. i Literally hundreds of letters are arriving at New Zealand House from prisoners of war acknowledging clothing and cigarette parcels sent by the New Zealand Red Cross. They confirm the fact that nearly every man in all the camps has now received at least- one parcel of clothing and some from six to eight parcels of cigarettes. Many mention parcels received direct from the Dominion. Several , men have v written authorising donations to- the Red Cross from accrued pay as a mark of their appreciation. Indicating the speeding up. of distribution, Captain M. G. Wadey (Wanganui), in Oflag 68, received a pair of spectacles 17. days after they were mailed from London. He had previously sent his prescription to New Zealand House and the British Optical Association donated the spectacles. ! Men are also receiving from England 'the type of razor.blades they require, [which apparently .are not available in 'New Zealand.
