NEW TURKISH PREMIER

MR. S. SARACOGLU

LONDON, July 9.

It is announced in Ankara that Turkey's Foreign Minister, Mr. Shukri Saracoglu, has been appointed Prime

Minister, in succession to the late Dr. Saydam.

Mr. Saracoglu played an important part in cementing the ties between Turkey and Britain when the 15 years' mutual assistance pact was signed in 1939.

CHANGE OF POLICY UNLIKELY

(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) ANKARA July 9.

The change in the Premiership is unlikely to affect Turkish policy. Wellinformed quarters believe a Cabinet reshuffle will probably take place.
