GAINS AT NANCHANG

CHUNGKING COMMUNIQUE

CHUNGKING, June 10

A communique states that on the Chekiang front fierce fighting is still raging east of Changshan. On the Kiangsi front, the Chinese successfully intercepted a Japanese attack on Kinki via Suwan. The Chinese are continuing their resistance east of Tsungjen, inflicting heavy losses on the Japanese.

In the Nanchang area, the Chinese, in an attempt to divert the Japanese drive, have captured several more positions from the enemy.

Six enemy cruisers unsuccessfully attempted to land troops on the shore of Poyang Lake, north-east of Nanchang.
