N.Z. CONSULTED
Full Approval
Commenting: on the announcement from London of the signature of the Anglo-Russian Treaty, the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) said that although the Dominions are not parties to the treaty, the New Zealand Government had been consulted throughout the negotiations and fully approved of the arrangement now made. The treaty would be welcomed in New Zealand as further strengthening the bonds between- the British Commonwealth of Nations and the U.S.S.R.
The magnificent resistance of Russia to the full force of German aggression, Mr. Fraser added, has earned and received the admiration and the gratitude of all lovers of freedom throughout the world, and the treaty now concluded should ensure the friendly cocperation of the British and Russian peoples both in war and peace. ,
supplies of planes and tanks and other kinds of war material from the United States to the Soviet were discussed, also the fundamental problem of the security of freedom-loving peoples after the war.
Both sides express satisfaction at the unity of their views on all these questions.
At the conclusion of the visit the President asked M. Molotov to inform M. Stalin that he felt that the conversations had been most useful in establishing a basis for fruitful closer relationship between the two Governments in pursuit of the common objectives of the United Nations.—-8.0.W.
