LATE MR. E. S. SMITH

LARGELY-ATTENDED FUNERAL

Ministers of the Crown, representatives from all branches of the Public Service, and many friends in the business community of the city attended the funeral this morning of Mr. E. S. Smith, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes. A service took place at the Kelburn Presbyterian Church prior to the final rites at Karori.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) was present, as well as the following Ministers: Messrs. A. H. Nordmeyer, H. G. R. Mason, and J. Barclay. Among others at the service were Mr. J. H. Boyes (Public Service Commissioner), Mr. J. M. Park (Commissioner of Taxes), and other officers of the Land and Income Tax Department, Mr. H. H. Cornish (Solicitor-General), Mr. C. G. Collins (Auditor-General). Mr. B. L. Dallard (Justice Department), Commissioner Cummings (Police Department), and representatives from other Government Departments.
