NAVY LEAGUE SEA CADETS

In Britain the Navy League Sea Cadet Corps now has 400 units, and a strength of 50,000 cadets between the ages of 14 and 18, according to "The Navy," which says that the growth of the movement, which was started in 1910, is a romantic achievement. Now that its training had become the direct concern of the Admiralty the Sea Cadet Corps at last took the place which it had earned, and the Navy League, was surely entitled to all the pride which it felt in that great job of work carried to national success. This was a movement which had a very great social influence for good in peacetime and which had proved its military worth in war. There was a time when the Navy League Sea Cadet Corps was regarded as a sort of pleasant Sunday afternoon amusement for small boys, "The Navy" continues. Its social and military value was derided. The Navy League itself was hated, detested, jeered at, condemned as a jingo scare-mongering organisation always howling for better and bigger fleets, always crying war where no war was. But the wheel had come full circle and the Navy League was shown to be right. DANGER OF NEGLECTED COLDS. Many people erroneously believe that a cold is best left to take its course.
