CANTERBURY A TARGET
GERMANS HIT BACK
LONDON, June 1. It is officially stated that about 25 enemy planes attacked the cathedral city of Canterbury last night. There js no doubt that the catltfdral was a target, but it is not proposed to help the Germans by saying whether it was hit. There were casualties and damage elsewhere. The Air Ministry earlier stated that, our fighters carried out a number of offensive operations over enemyoccupied territory yesterday. Off the Dutch coast an armed trawler was set on fire and sunk and two other vessels were driven aground. In Belgium railway targets and barges were attacked, and this evening sweeps were made over northern France. In the course of these operations four enemy fighters were destroyed, and eight of ours .are missing.
