TASK OF RECOVERY

Rear-Admiral Cluverius, president of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, addressing a graduating class at the Clarkson College commencement ceremony, said that control of the Pacific was not yet in sight, but "when we are completely readytto go forward the tide of victory will turn with us."

Japan's attack on Pearl Harbour cost the United Nations control of the Pacific, and declared "our job now is to regain control of the sea and hold the lands that are still free."
